Refund Policy
Refunds are limited and clearly scoped. The free trial on Socket Trader and the pre-kickoff window on engagements are how we de-risk new customers. After those windows, work is in motion and refunds do not apply.
Self-Service Cancellation
All subscriptions are month-to-month and can be canceled from your dashboard at any time. Canceling stops auto-renewal at the end of the current billing period; your access continues until that period ends. Cancellation is not a refund and does not by itself trigger a refund.
Socket Trader Subscriptions
Every new Socket Trader subscription begins with a 7-day free trial. During the trial, no charge is made. If the product is not for you, cancel from the dashboard before day 7 and you will not be billed.
After the trial ends and the first charge succeeds, Socket Trader is non-refundable. Subscriptions are month-to-month; you keep access through the period you have paid for, and auto-renewal stops the moment you cancel. We do not issue refunds for partial months, second thoughts, or after-the-fact dissatisfaction.
Dev Retainers
Dev Retainers are monthly. Cancel anytime; auto-renewal stops at the end of the current period. No prorated refunds for partial months. Hours not consumed during the month do not roll over.
Hourly Consulting
Consulting hours are paid up front via Stripe before scheduling. Refundable in full only if you cancel the session at least 24 hours before the scheduled time, or if we cancel. Cancellations inside the 24-hour window or no-shows are non-refundable; the hour was held for you and cannot be reused.
One-Time Engagements (Security Audit, AI Architecture Review)
Refundable in full if canceled at least 24 hours before kickoff. Kickoff is the scheduled engagement start (typically the kickoff call where we confirm scope and timeline).
Within 24 hours of kickoff, and at any point after kickoff, the engagement is non-refundable. By that point we have blocked calendar time, allocated tooling, and started preparation work.
Service Failures
If a service we operate is materially unavailable for more than 48 continuous hours due to a failure on our side (not planned maintenance, not your broker, not your ISP, not your local setup), email us. We will credit the affected days to your next bill, or issue a prorated refund at our discretion. This is the only case in which a refund applies after delivery has begun.
What Is Never Refundable
- Trading losses. We never refund based on trade outcomes. See the Risk Disclosure.
- Cryptocurrency payments once the on-chain transaction has confirmed. At our discretion, we may offer equivalent service credit instead.
- Sessions or engagements already delivered. Once a consulting hour, audit, or review is delivered, the work has been performed.
- Chargeback attempts filed without first emailing us and allowing five business days to resolve. Customers who chargeback without notice are banned from future use of the Service.
How to Request
If you have an account, the fastest path is the dashboard: open your dashboard, click Request refund, and pick the reason. The request opens a tracked ticket and we reply on the same thread.
If you do not have an account or cannot log in, use the contact form. Include the email on the account, the service in question, and the approximate date of the charge.
We confirm receipt within two business days. Eligible refunds are processed within five business days of confirmation. Funds typically settle to your card in five to ten additional business days depending on your bank.
Disputes
If you are not satisfied with our decision, please reply on the email thread before opening a chargeback. Most refund disputes are a miscommunication that can be resolved in a single exchange.
